“On the day we meet again I’ll let you hear this song, while looking at each other wordlessly whisper our love” Dream Catcher by Moonbin and Sanha
Astro’s sub-unit BinSan (Moonbin and Sanha) held their first ever fan-con here in Manila entitled Diffusion last March 25, 2023 at the New Frontier Theatre. Having Manila as their stop, the bar for expectations were too high to fill, but yet PH Aroha’s never disappoint – their energy was on top up until the end of the fan-con.
Allow me to take you to Moonbin & Sanha: Diffusion in Manila.
The Fan Con started with a very with a powerful performance of ‘Who’ which gave the fans the right amount of hype just to start off the show, it was yet followed by a performance of ‘Bad Idea’ which made the venue a little hotter than usual ~
Right after the first set of songs, they began with their introductions, which did not take long since they really are saving up a lot of things for the rest of the show
The introduction was followed by another performance of ‘DIA’ – on a personal note, this performance really stood out to me the most; their vocals, dance movements and even the light effects were all complimenting each other, it was just so perfect.
After the VRC Sanha came out alone to perform his solo stage ‘Distance’ at this point, I was really mesmerized by how Sanha sings – he sings as if he really wants to relay a message to his fans. Sanha was supposed to perform ‘Wish’ while playing the guitar live but unfortunately due to some technical difficulties it wasn’t pushed through, he was also very cute on how he reacts to fans being sulky on not being able to perform the guitar live – despite everything, he still gave a very much heart warming performance.
After Sanha’s sweet and soft moments, here comes in Moonbin making the New Frontier Theatre hot again (literally), as he would say “Ang init” which is so hot in Tagalog – he performed ‘Perfumer’ and ‘Desire’, which really shows how good he is as a performer. As the lyrics from Desire goes “I don’t wanna stop” the fans would vouch for me if I say that Moonbin can keep on going as long as he wants too ~
After those contrasting solo stages by the duo – here comes the fun part of the show – games and more fan interactions. The boys are very fun to be with they shared their TMI in where Sanha said that his hotel room was so big that he can’t seem to sleep, on the other hand Moonbin’s TMI is that when they got here in Manila, it was his first time to wear shorts again after a long time. They we’re also asked what are their recent purchase, on which Sanha said that he recently bought a new phone, and since he was working out these days (which really show) he also bought a lot of protein shake, while Moonbin said he didn’t buy anything except foods for Sanha
As it goes, the game started – the first game was to Copy the drawing (one member will be drawing on the other member’s back, while that member copies the drawing on the paper)
it was so funny, but when Moonbin couldn’t guess what Sanha is drawing on his back, he just wrote “Aroha ❤❤”
They moved on to the 2nd game which was “Guess the Songs” (they have to guess which songs are included in the mix) they we’re also given a chance to go down and ask help from their fans. as a punishments if they won’t be able to figure out all the songs included they need to dance to 1 song – since both of them are good with games, they accepted the punishment and danced to Fighting by BSS and Pink Venom by Blackpink (and yes, they lost to the game)
As the segment ends, they had a short photo-time with the fans in where they showed their cute sides on each photos – and to end the first half of the fan con they gave us a show stopping performance to ‘Madness’ ~
The 2nd half of the fan con starts with a cute performance of ‘Chup Chup’ which is my most favorite stage and was followed by ‘Alone’ and ‘Dream Catcher’ these performances really touched my heart, this is where I saw and realized that despite not being able to see Astro live as a whole group for 7 years, the love that Aroha’s have for Astro and vice versa will always be there
in between the performances they had their ment’s in where Sanha said that PH Aroha’s are really loving them, and made him realize that it took him 7 years to go back to the Philippines – but yet again he is really happy that he is back here in Manila even as a sub-unit, on the other hand Moonbin kept on thinking that what if they were able to come back earlier, I think there will be more Arohas who would love to see them more, and if they get a chance in the future; if ever they get called back again, they will definitely be back.
This is the time where all the emotions are kicking in, on a fan perspective when I hear the word “Encore” I automatically get sad, since the day that I look forward to is about to end, but then again the boys made sure that the waiting time for the Encore is worthwhile
And now we are on the last set of the show, the boys gave a soothing performance of ‘All I Wanna Do’ and was able to go down the stage to interact and be more with their fans. After that their was a fan project made by PH Aroha’s which really touch the hearts of BinSan and it was followed by another heartwarming moment of PH Aroha’s and Astro (Moonbin & Sanha)
And for their final song, they gave us a very bright performance to ‘Your Day’ they even taught their fans to sing and harmonize to the song (free vocal lessons from your Idol experience)
As the show ends, we got to interview some fans on “What are their favorite part of the show?”
While Kat and Rian, who met each other as seatmates and instantly became friends both agree that their most favorite part was when Aroha’s and BinSan are showing their love for each other, it made Kat realize that Astro (Moonbin & Sanha) is really passionate and that they are sincere for their love, that even after 7 years of not being able to perform, she still feels the same. Rian on the other hand emphasized how welcoming and approachable Aroha’s are, and that despite the differences she felt that they are one.
