THE BOYZ successfully wraps up their first ever SOLO CONCERT here in the Philippines.
The Boyz is an 11-member K-pop boy group under IST Entertainment which consist of the members; Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Juhaknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric. The first time that The Boyz was here in Manila was way back in 2019 for their first fanmeet and went back last April for an omnibus concert – this time around The Boyz were back for their first ever solo concert.
Upon entering the dome you can clearly feel the vibe that the fans ‘The B’s/Deobis’ really waited for this, as I enter I saw some fans taking pictures front stage with their heart shaped – megaphone like light stick called Heart Bbyong Bong/Deobi Bong, some were making friends within their areas, some were busy doing photo cards trades and some were just chill and patiently waiting for the show to start – weather you are the type of fan that patiently waits or the type that takes a lot of pre-concert photos for keepsake – when the countdown timer was shown on the screen the world seem to pause and the fans began screaming their hearts out as the show was about to start –
The concert began with a really powerful intro to ‘Ego’ and was then followed by ‘Reveal’ which is both part of their first full album entitled ‘Reveal’. ‘Reveal’ was a song that seems to be familiar to many fans and non-fans as they have previously shown such an impactful performance of this song during 2020 MAMA which gained a lot of positive comments. The first set of performances continued with ‘Awake’ and ‘Roar’ that both sit in the same album ‘Be Awake’.
The performance set list was then followed by some bright and youthful performances that really took as back in time and made the fans reminisce the growth of The Boyz, from performing ‘I’m Your Boy’ which was part of their debut album, followed by ‘Text Me Back’, ‘Only ONE’, ‘Whisper’, ‘Thrill Ride’ and ‘D.D.D’ which really made the fans jump and dance along with these boyz. In between these performances they had their introduction in which the some of the members introduced themselves in Tagalog –
Eric “Ako si Eric, ang inyong boyfriend”
Kevin ‘Kamusta ka na beshy ko?” ‘Nagagalak ako na makita kayo muli”
Sangyeon “Kamusta ka? Ako si Sangyeon” , “Philippine Deobi, maganda”
Jacob “Mahal Kita”
New “Ako si New”
Moving on to the next part of performances that really left us in awe – these were the performance that drastically gave us the roller coaster experience that we were not prepared of – this set started of light with ‘Lucid Dreams’, ‘Daydream’, Butterfly’, and ‘Wings’ that really captivated the hearts of everyone inside the dome, and now this is where the exciting part comes (hehehe) after the VCR, The Boyz went back out the stage and they know exactly what they need to do and that is to show the fans that they are the Zeneration Kings, as we have said the next set of songs left our mouth’s open starting off with ‘Nightmares’. ‘Russian Roulette’, ‘Insanity’ and ‘Maverick’ which were all crowd favorites and we can confirm that each and everyone lost their voices screaming.
And as we get close to the end of the most awaited day for most of the fans – we now move on to one of the most emotional parts of the show, Encore. They began showing their soft and soothing vocals through ‘Spring Snow’ and was then followed by ‘Horizon’ which holds close meaning to the members and the fans as well – through the cold and warmth we stay together. The members had their ments and what really struck me the most was when Eric said “Happy 5 year and 7 months to my forever” referring to the fans – through and through, despite the distance the love that The Boyz has for the fans will never waver. The show ended with their song ‘Timeless’ as a representation to a love that is timeless.
As the show ended I personally began to realize why I started liking The Boyz during their pre-debut era and loving them up until now – it’s because of their solid relationship with the fans and with each other which can never be replaced by anyone or anything. Time may pass but the love that we have that goes equally both ways will never end. They are a solid support to many and to me personally, they are the reason why I started writing.
The Boyz, thank you for being an inspiration to many, for showing humility and knowing to always have your foot intact to the ground and all times, for humbling us too and always putting us on the right place, for caring to one another and not letting anyone get hurt despite the stunts and performances that you do, for being a core system to some. Your love and passion has grown big and it shows. Genuinely, I am writing as a fan – I am proud of those 5 years and 7 months. Thank you.
