K-pop group The Boyz is not only making waves in their home country, South Korea, but also here in the Philippines. As they have been going back and forth for various activities, fans have been eagerly keeping track of the locations they have visited; some wanted to re-visit their footsteps, while others are just happy to see that these boys are having the ‘Pinoy Core’ experience. Now let’s walk down the road of The Boyz here in the Philippines.

Siargao – “LIPGLOSS” Music Video: Before their “Zeneration I” concert in Manila, The Boyz took the opportunity to film a music video for their second album, Phantasy Pt.1 [Christmas in August], released on August 7, 2023. The group went to the breathtaking island of Siargao to film the MV of their title track, “LIPGLOSS.” The island’s beautiful beaches and stunning scenery perfectly complemented the album’s unique concept of “Christmas in Summer” (August being the summer season in Korea). The vibrant and natural beauty of Siargao added an extra color and charm to the music video.
McDonald’s Cubao – New Frontier Theater “Baha Adventures”: Among all the ‘Pinoy Core’ moments The Boyz have experienced, this one truly takes the cherry on top. Picture this: your favorite idols casually buying dinner at a McDonald’s in Cubao during a thunderstorm, just the night before their concert. Despite the heavy rain and minor flooding, they bravely made their way back to their hotel. The scene that particularly caught everyone’s attention on Filo-Twitter (now X) was when Sunwoo was spotted pulling up his pants to avoid getting them wet—a move so quintessentially Filipino that it quickly became a viral moment. Fans couldn’t help but marvel at how effortlessly “Pinoy coded” this gesture was, making the group even more relatable and beloved by their Filipino supporters.
Grocery Shopping with New at Puregold: You can take The Boyz out of the Philippines, but you can never take the Filipino core out of them. This was evident when Choi Chanhee, better known as New, shared a candid moment with fans on Bubble, a messaging app that connects artists with their fans. In his post, New uploaded a photo of him grocery shopping at Puregold, a well-known Filipino supermarket chain. The sight of him navigating the aisles like any local further endeared him to Filipino fans.
Grocery Date with Kevin and Younghoon at Robinsons Supermarket: Kevin and Younghoon were also spotted during their grocery shopping at Robinsons Supermarket. According to a post on X (formerly Twitter), she saw the duo doing their grocery and approached them, asking Kevin for a photo on which he politely declined, the post also mentioned that she walked past Younghoon several times inside the supermarket, noticing that he seemed a bit unsure of where to go. The sighting of these two members doing what seemed to be an everyday task for some, like grocery shopping, added a humbling touch to their otherwise idolized image.
Chanhee and Changmin at Luneta Park: As Filipinos, we’re well aware that Luneta Park is a staple tourist destination, drawn with history and cultural significance. But has it ever occurred to you the possibility of just casually encountering your favorite K-pop idols there? That’s exactly what happened the afternoon before The Boyz’s KWAVE performance; members Changmin and Chanhee were spotted by fans casually walking through Luneta Park. They look just like regular tourists, and during high times of the day, they enjoy the ambiance of one of Manila’s most iconic landmarks.
JUYEON THE NEWEST MEMBER OF PALOBO GANG: And the best Pinoy post goes to – Juyeon, as he gave fans a good laugh with a playful Instagram post that quickly became the talk of the fandom. The post, captioned “I’m a SIARGAO boy,” featured a series of photos from The Boyz’s Siargao trip for their “LIPGLOSS” music video shoot. But what really made this post the talk of the town was the first image in the scroll—a humorous “announcement” that declared, “Ikaw ay binabasbasan upang maging isang ganap na miyembro ng PALOBO GANG – Siargao Chapter, 2023,” which translates to, “You are officially declared as a member of the Palobo Gang.” Filipino fans couldn’t contain their laughter and curiosity, with many playfully questioning, “What even is the Palobo Gang?” Juyeon’s blend of local humor and charm made the post an instant hit, which made The Boyz more know to Filipino K-Pop fans.
